Yeah, so I was a little rough on the Blacktops last week, but I'm diggin' the retro-American 60's cheeze elegance of Fender's current FSR flake finishes...

Just think of old drum shells, AMF bowling balls, the vinyl covered cushions in bumper cars & Kustom amps. In fact, Schwinn's entire Stingray "Krate" bike line. Maybe future FSR finishes could include Apple Krate, Lemon Peeler & Pea Picker.  

These MIM Standard models are very affordable, and sure to dazzle everyone in the neighborhood with their sparkly effervescent groovitude! And how can ya beat that!

B-Bender Prototype??

Clarence White original owned '68 Tele?


A little out of my normal territory here, but if this is legit it's a pretty significant artifact. Seriously, if it's for real, how do ya classify this one?

Currently a consignment auction, eBay listing by Guitar Desires of Boulder, CO this '68 Tele belongs to a musician who acquired it from Clarence White in 1970. They also claim the instrument was rarely played, and hasn't been modified in any way from White's original mock-up. The listing has extensive details & photos, and the sale of this guitar will include sworn affidavits, etc., etc., etc.
Maybe even DNA samples...

"West Coast Seattle Boy - The Jimi Hendrix Anthology" is the brand new release in time for the 40th anniversary of Jimi's passing on Sept. 18, 2010...
"West Coast Seattle Chile..." might have been cooler, but what the hell do I know?
GuitarSite.com has good details on this release box set of tunes from 1964-1970. The first disc is an amazing compilation of Jimi's various side gigs before going to England. Disc's 2-4 are previously unreleased original Hendrix recordings up to 1970.
You'll be amazed at who he gigged with through the early 60's in the US!

Seems like everywhere ya look-- even in women's media, the top "rated" ladies of guitar continue to be Lita Ford, Heart's Nancy Wilson and Joan Jett, followed by various "dangerous" appearing punk chicks who don't actually play guitar very well but look good enough holding one to get the attention of journalists who don't play guitar...

There, I said it. All due respect to Lita, Nancy & Joan, who've certainly earned special status for breaking important ground. BUT, it's time to move forward and simply look around. And LISTEN!


Without getting into some neandrathallic Youtube comment thread philosophical rant here, we'll just let the ladies who can play speak for themselves.

But of course the PG & Youtube pages with this video are already loading up with the trolls who wanna argue that SRV was better than John Mayer or that Mayer isn't really any good because he's too Pop, blah blah woof woof ad infinitum...

I'm neither a John Mayer hater, nor is he my all time favorite guitar player. I'm just tired of these idiots and their never ending negative, irrelevant B.S.! These people should go burn books or whatever it is that they really do, and stay off the web.
